Innovation Lab Amphibian Launches NatureMe, a Nature-Focused Mindfulness App
New App Created By Former Google Moonshot Leader Connects Users With Nature
LOS ANGELES AND SEATTLE – September 17, 2025 – Amphibian, an innovation lab developing solutions to improve people’s relationship with nature, today announced the launch of NatureMe, a first-of-its-kind nature mindfulness app. Developed in partnership with Wilderness Awareness School, NatureMe incorporates the organization’s core practices into daily guided practices that can be accessed through the app. This is the first product launch for Amphibian, the innovation lab founded by former Google Moonshot leader Evan Rapoport.
NatureMe offers people a way to spend time in nature wherever they are, from an urban downtown to their own backyard to a park or beach. According to a recent study from the American Psychological Association, adults who spent at least two hours a week in nature reported significantly greater health and well-being. Through its distinctive awareness and mindfulness practices, NatureMe aims to help reduce stress and anxiety while supporting users in rediscovering the child-like wonder of the world around them.
“During my time at Google, I was fortunate enough to travel all over the world to experience the joys of nature, supercharging my desire to create solutions that protect the natural world. But I know traveling to find nature is not always possible, especially for those of us who live in cities,” said Evan Rapoport, Founder and CEO of Amphibian. “So, I partnered with Wilderness Awareness School to create NatureMe to help everyone develop a nature connection practice anywhere they are, even when not using our app.”
NatureMe introduces users to their own environments through guided sessions, which support stress reduction, increased awareness, and rediscovery of their world. Guided sessions are available in a range of lengths, including 10 to 15-minute sessions, 1-minute midday resets, and longer open-ended 30 to 60-minute sessions. Unlike other mindfulness apps, users are encouraged to keep their eyes open and focus externally, with beta testers frequently reporting that their senses and nervous system entered into a flow with the natural world.
NatureMe incorporates the two core practices of the Wilderness Awareness School, both of which encourage participants to observe, smell, listen, and feel nature around them with open eyes:
Sit Spot: A daily practice where users go to the same spot in nature for 10 minutes to observe the world around them, from their suburban backyard or city-dwelling balcony. If a leaf or plant sparks curiosity, users are encouraged to move towards the object and observe closely.
Wander: A daily guided walking practice that encourages participants to explore a natural area around them and lean on curiosity as the guide. Whether walking the dog, running errands, or going on a hike, Wander allows users to observe and feel the awe and complexity of different parts of the environment they encounter.
“For over 40 years, Wilderness Awareness School has helped tens of thousands of people cultivate positive relationships with nature, community, and self while fostering an appreciation for our environment, “ said Warren Moon, Executive Director of Wilderness Awareness School. “We’re thrilled to partner with Evan Rapoport and Amphibian to bring our teachings to a global audience with NatureMe so people everywhere can deepen their relationship with the natural world.”
NatureMe is now available to users everywhere on iOS and Android. Users can access a free version of the app as well as a 14-day trial of the premium version, which is for $2.99 per month, $14.99 for six months, and $24.99 for 12 months for more content.
